In Love’s Realm, even Sadness is Sweet

Pain is inherent in this world; it is inherent in the essence of this planet and its tragic reality. It's all around us; we can't get away from it. Even though we strive hard, we cannot avoid suffering. And even if we do, we will eventually suffer in the end.

This world is also a world of opposites, of contrast, of differences, of night and day, of sunrise and sunset, etc. And because of that, we have reasons to rejoice, for at least, there is light after darkness; the sun still shine even on rainy days; and good things come out when bad things passed away. Moreover, joy is the opposite of pain; therefore, we can conclude that there is happiness after the torments. Although, having said that, we have to accept that in the world of contrast, our reason to rejoice is also our reason to grieve.

Love, which is also built-in in this world, is a very complex emotion and a source of great happiness. (And even love has an opposite meaning). Undoubtedly, Love being the source of extreme happiness is also the source of extreme misery. Who can blame those people who are hesitant to be in love; when most of the time, what is apparent and more remembered in the process of love is the misery of those who fall in love?. However, it is in our nature to love; as life without love, if not worse than death, is death itself. Life is not worth living without love. However, we should be careful even in choosing the person to whom we bestow our love; because choosing the wrong one is enough reason for us to suffer. Aside from the fact that there is a thing called lust, which is identical to love. And one must know the difference between love and lust. Since love is an overused word; and most of the time, lust, which is the opposite of love, is oftentimes misunderstood for love.

When it comes to love, in the real meaning of the word love, there is no such thing as suffering. There is only joy and happiness; and in that realm, even sadness is sweet.

It is natural for us to protect our loved ones. To shelter them from harm is the sign of our affection. Understandably, for people that we cared for, we will sacrifice everything, even our lives. Although, there are times when sacrificing for them is not even possible because we are not around when they really need us. We are not in control, and our resources are very limited, no matter how powerful we might be. Moreover, time, circumstances, forces of nature, (to name a few) are beyond in any man’s power and capacity to contend with. We cannot protect ourselves from these forces, as we cannot protect those people we love. What more for the poverty-stricken people, sadly for them, even their basic needs for survival is already a strong force to deal with, and sometimes even enough reason to die for.

A complex and stringent world we live in where everything has a price. And I find it strange and sad that because of advancement and progress, even a man’s longing to be with his loved ones is a struggle and a source of misery.

Technology, especially in the field of communication, works hard to come up with dimensional gadgets that are designed to cope up with the needs of man.
However, it seems that this so-called advancement  is not enough; for even in cyber realm, I saw and feel the painful longing in separation. It seems that distance is distance, and no amount of superficial machines or gadgets could fill the space in between. Love indeed is so strong, and so are the desires of lovers to unite with the ones they loved.

But would it make a difference if there is a loving person who love those people we cared for more than we do; and that loving person is so powerful and has the ability to continuously and simultaneously be present everywhere. And would it make a difference if that person is our well-wisher and dear most friend, our merciful master and loving father who already had given us so much and from whom we can still ask anything. Although, we don't really have to ask Him, for He knows our needs even before we know that there are such needs?

The Son of God
In addition, would it make a difference if He is an all-knowing person who knows the things of the past, the present, and the future; and who knows the nature, destiny, and the best for everyone? Moreover, what if, after all the things He already did and would still do for us, all He wants from us in return is to love Him. For only in doing so, we can truly understand the real meaning of love that originates from Him and only in loving Him, we can overcome pain and truly find Happiness. Would it make a difference? Moreover, would we not be able to find peace, or even joy, knowing that the person we love is safe in his mighty loving hands?

His love, which is based on freedom, is available to everyone; and all we have to do is turn to Him and put our faith in Him. However, for us to understand His ways and His mercy, we must truly know how to love. Unfortunately, even in pain, most of us do not know how nor want to neither avail the greatness of His mercy nor experience the amazing wonders of His love.

NOTE: In songs, in movies and articles, in friend’s personal stories; love and separation is predominant and a predicament of a modern man. This piece of writing is my humble effort to lessen their agony. This article is for them; although I was prompted to write this item because of a newly found friend who is sorrowful because of separation from his loved ones. I myself am a victim of this cruel world’s sad reality, and while I am watching him and hearing him talk, I saw and heard my pain. Love and separation is one of my life’s unsolved puzzles that I tried but failed to forget, and which I thought would remain unexplained; lucky for me, I found the answer.
